Koei Tecmo in a surprise partnership with EA Originals has revealed the Wild Hearts release date with a new debut trailer. In what looks to be a rival with the Monster Hunter series, this new hunting action game by Omega Force will have players fight against giant beasts of nature with up to two friends in co-operative play. Wild Hearts is scheduled to release on February 17, 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Origin, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
Wild Hearts reveal trailer shows off crafting mechanics
In a twist to the familiar hunting genre, Wild Hearts will have characters use devices called Karakuri to help defeat the raging Kemono beasts across Azuma, a beautiful but untamed region inspired by the feudal Japanese landscape. The trailer above shows one character quickly crafting a tower, almost right out of a Lego game by TT Games, and leaping off the top by using a propeller, gliding toward a Kingtusk giant boar for an aerial assault.
A sillier use of the crafting mechanic has the character use a swinging mallet that bonks a giant phoenix-like bird on its head. There’s also a bomb which, after several seconds of wind-up, can explode right in front of a giant wolf for massive damage. In revenge, the wolf is able to destroy a stack of crafting blocks, but that doesn’t prevent the team from creating several ballistas with oversized rope arrows to constrict the beast.
The core premise of the story will have players attempt to discover why the once peaceful Kemono have suddenly become aggressive. After fighting the winter wolf named Deathstalker, players learn how to use a life-sustaining technology to tame and restore balance to Azuma.
Wild Hearts will feature crossplay across platforms and has been set with the premium price tag of $69.99. An extended gameplay reveal has been set for next week on October 5, 2022.
