LAREDO, Texas - Over $800,000 worth of narcotics was seized from a shipment of seat cushions at the southern border.

On Nov. 15, a 2023 Chevrolet S10 Max hauling a commercial shipment of sear cushions was referred for secondary inspection by U.S Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Officers at the World Trade Bridge in Laredo.

Following a K-9 screening and a non-intrusive inspection, CBP officers discovered 359.79 pounds of alleged marijuana concealed within the shipment of seat cushions.

“CBP is proud of the work our frontline officers do to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our communities,” said Port Director Alberto Flores, Laredo Port of Entry. “This seizure is an example of ongoing operational efforts conducted daily to protect our borders.”

Authorities seized the alleged narcotics, which were valued at $804,902, and Homeland Security Investigations special agents have launched an investigation into the incident.
