Ben Margiott

Reporter/Podcast host

Ben Margiott joined the News 4-Fox 11 team as a reporter in May 2016, just a week after graduating from ASU's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

In the eight-plus years since, he's covered everything from the Nevada legislature and local politics to brush fires in the summer and severe snow storms in the winter.

Ben was live in Lovelock when O.J. Simpson learned he would be paroled out of prison, and was scheduled to witness the unprecedented execution of murderer Scott Dozier. He's interviewed President-elect Joe Biden, Vice President Mike Pence and Senator Bernie Sanders, to name a few.

He was beyond honored to tell the stories of four local survivors of the 1 October mass shooting, a Reno veteran who has quietlycleaned up local freeways for a decadeand a man who supposedly bought a Babe Ruth card in Sparks worth over $2 million.

Since then, he's launched Ballot Battleground: Nevada, a podcast taking a deep dive into the issues and topics that matter most to Silver State voters while holding local politicians accountable.

Ben grew up in Elk Grove, a suburb just south of Sacramento, where he first fell in love with journalism as one of the founding members of his high school's morning broadcast.

On his weekend, you can find Ben chasing his 2-year-old son Sage, spending time with his wife, and enjoying all the things our beautiful backyard offers.

If you have any story ideas, you can email Ben, Tweet at him, or contact him on Facebook.
