Donald Trump thanked the American people for electing him for a second time and vowed to usher in a new golden age for the United States as he neared clinching another term in the White House.

Trump took the stage at the Palm Beach County Convention Center and spoke to a room of supporters on a stage filled with family, staff and other allies as he basked in the election results. At the time he took the stage, the Associated Press had not called the race, though other news outlets had determined he had become the president-elect.

"Every citizen, I will fight for you, your family and your future. Every single day I will be fighting for you, and with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve. This will truly be the golden age of America."

He also called on the country to unite in the wake of his approaching victory.

“I’m asking every citizen all across our land. It’s time to put the divisions of the past four years behind us. It’s time to unite,” Trump said. “And we’re going to try. We have to try. It’s going to happen. Success will bring us together.”

Trump also celebrated many of his high-profile supporters during his speech, shouting out billionaire Tesla CEO Elon Musk, UFC CEO Dana White, and professional golfer Bryson DeChambeau.

JD Vance, who is poised to become the next vice president, also got praise from Trump who joked that Vance “turned out to be a good choice.”

“I took a little heat at the beginning,” Trump said, referring to a series of negative headlines about Vance stemming from interviews over the last several years, including dating back to his time as a highly public anti-Trump figure within the party.

Vance’s ascension to the vice presidency marks a rapid rise for the relative political newcomer, who was just elected to the Senate for the first time during the 2022 midterms. The “Hillbilly Eulogy” author did a complete turnaround on Trump during his run for the Senate, earning his endorsement and becoming a fierce advocate for him in the Senate before being tapped to be his vice president.

“I think that we just witnessed the greatest political comeback in the history of the United States of America,” Vance said. “Under President Trump’s leadership, we’re never going to stop fighting for you, for your dreams, for the future of your children.”
