CARSON CITY, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — Four school sites in the Carson City School District and three Washoe County School District School will be closed Wednesday because of a planned power outage.
NV Energy has imposed a planned power outage at four school sites in Carson City on Nov. 20 due to high winds and increased fire risk.
Carson City School District officials say school will be closed and classes canceled for the entire day at Bordewich Bray Elementary, Carson Middle, the District Office and Student Support Services.
All employees and students who report to these specific school sites should remain home. No student activities, afterschool programs or practices will occur at only these schools.
All other school sites will have power and the school day will remain unchanged.
Pleasant Valley Elementary School, Roy Gomm Elementary School and Huffaker Elementary School in the Washoe County School District will also be closed. The following message was sent to families:
This is an important message from the Washoe County School District for Wednesday, November 20. We have received notice from NV Energy that their Public Safety Outage Management has occurred. With no power to our school campus, school will be canceled for today, Wednesday, November 20.
We will continue to closely monitor this situation with NV Energy.
Once again, all classes and events at Pleasant Valley Elementary school will be canceled today, Wednesday, November 20, and there will be no before- or after school activities.
