GALLERY: Hope for recovery as Nugget the bear receives treatment post-Davis Fire

RENO, Nev. (KRNV) — Out of the chaos of the Davis Fire comes a 'nugget' of hope.

Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue crews responded to a report of an injured bear off Granite Ridge Road in Washoe Valley amidst the craziness of the massive blaze.

The 25-year-old bear, who has now been dubbed Nugget, was badly hurt with burnt paws and burn marks around his face and mouth.

Crews assisted the Nevada Department of Wildlife in transporting the bear for treatment.
