A week ago, Georgia was the No. 2 seed in the initial College Football Playoff rankings. Fast forward to today, and the Bulldogs have fallen all the way to 12th, now on the outside looking in.
"The way the committee has set it up, dropping the Bulldogs to No. 12 and out of the playoff picture, this is an absolute must-win game for them this weekend against Tennessee," said Rob Stone on this week's episode of "The Triple Option".
Georgia's 28-10 loss to Ole Miss marked their second of the season, following an earlier defeat to Alabama. This weekend, they host 7th-ranked Tennessee and will need to play at the level they showed when they defeated Texas—starting with quarterback Carson Beck.
"I'm not sure, in my lifetime, if I've ever seen such a fall from a potential first-round draft pick to the turnovers we've seen lately," added Coach Urban Meyer. "The team looks awful right now, and they’re not that bad." Beck, once considered a lock for the first round of the NFL Draft, has thrown nine interceptions and just five touchdowns over the past four games.
When it comes to Georgia, no one has believed in them more than Mark Ingram II. But even he seems to be losing faith. "I've been giving them the benefit of the doubt. I've been saying Carson Beck will overcome this adversity... and he just hasn’t."
