Actress Jamie Lee Curtis on Wednesday encouraged Americans to “fight” in the wake of the projection that President-elect Donald Trump will take over the White House.

Curtis, an outspoken Democrat, made the comment in a lengthy reaction shared via Instagram. The post included an image of a bald eagle with an American flag reading “your flag and my flag.”

“Many will be stunned and sad with the terrible feelings of the loss,” she wrote. “So what does it mean?”

Curtis went on to say some fear a “draconian” time under Trump’s second term. Several minority groups, such as those in the LGBT community, will likely feel “afraid,” she said.

“But what it really means is that we wake up and fight,” the post reads. “Fight for women and our children and their futures and fight against tyranny, one day at a time. One fight at a time. One protest at a time. That's what it means to be an American.”

Feel your feelings today but most of all.....Be an American today,” Curtis closed.

Businesses in cities across the country boarded up their buildings in anticipation of possible unrest surrounding the results of Election Day. Buildings in Washington D.C., Portland, Oregon and Luzerne County in Pennsylvania used protective wooden boarding to ward off potential protesters.

Curtis’s reaction was one of many mournful responses by those who hoped for a victory from Vice President Kamala Harris. “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg on Wednesday, while discussing the results of Election Day, said she still refuses to say “his name.”

“He is now the president, I’m still not going to say his name,” she said. “That’s not going to change.”
