LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Las Vegas Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce said Monday he's still undecided on who will be the team's starting quarterback and offensive play-caller.
Pierce spoke with reporters virtually Monday morning, a day after the Raiders fired offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello and offensive line coach James Cregg.
"I'll use the next 24 to 48 hours to sit down with the staff and figure out who's gonna call the offense going forward," Pierce said.
He called the dismissal of Getsy "100% my decision," saying he was disappointed in the offense's performance and production, particularly the turnover margin.
"I don't care what team you are, who you have a quarterback, who's your head coach, who's your OC, you're not going to win games when you turn the ball over at the rate we've been turning over, pretty much three times a game, especially 13 in the last five," Pierce explained.
He also remained noncommittal about a starting quarterback. Gardner Minshew was benched in Sunday's loss at Cincinnati in favor of the newly added Desmond Ridder, who went 11-for-16 for 74 yards and a touchdown in relief.
"I'm using the bye week to look at everything," Pierce said.
The coaching staff will perform some self-reflection before talking about players, he added.
"We got to get back to it," said Pierce. "And shame on me, shame on us, for not doing that to our fullest because that's what our record is showing."
After the bye week, the Raiders (2-7) face the Dolphins in Miami on Sunday, Nov. 14.
