Lois Tarkanian, wife of former UNLV coach passes away

Lois Tarkanian, a lifelong advocate for education and public service, has passed away at the age of 89. Known for her deep commitment to the Las Vegas community, she was the wife of legendary UNLV basketball coach Jerry Tarkanian and a respected figure in Nevada’s education and civic landscape.

Lois also served for 14 years on the Las Vegas City Council

Lois Tarkanian dedicated much of her life to public service, particularly in education.

As a member of the Nevada System of Higher Education Board of Regents, she played an influential role in shaping policies that impacted students across the state.

Lois Tarkanian was 89 years old.
