The Nevada Division of Emergency Management/Homeland Security (DEM) is ramping up efforts to ensure public safety during large-scale events across the state. By collaborating with local emergency management officials and agency partners, DEM is developing incident support plans to safeguard lives and infrastructure before, during, and after events.

Recently, DEM joined forces with Clark County Emergency Management and the Las Vegas Metro Police Department to coordinate the deployment of the Nevada National Guard for major events, including the Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix. This prestigious motor racing event, part of the Formula One World Championship, is scheduled in Nevada from November 21-23 and demands meticulous planning to guarantee the safety of attendees and participants.

"Though our vision sounds simple—helping people before, during, and after disasters—our mission has many layers," said DEM Administrator Brett Compston. "It involves education, consistency, planning, teamwork, and collaboration. We are dedicated to helping Nevadans prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters by building a more resilient state through strong partnerships. Working in tandem with our local community partners, we provide support whenever needed, in both blue skies and gray."

Looking ahead, DEM is also gearing up for the New Year’s Eve celebrations on December 31, which are expected to attract an additional 400,000 visitors to Nevada. Through collaboration with local and state partners, DEM aims to deliver the resources and coordination necessary to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all.
