A potential atmospheric river is shaping up to bring possible flooding to parts of northern Nevada later this week.
The National Weather Service in Reno said confidence is increasing in the likelihood for an atmospheric river storm late Thursday through Saturday.
Meteorologists said the storm will be warmer and snow levels will be higher which increases the risk of flooding.
The NWS said exact details such as timing and the magnitude of the storm can make significant difference in overall impacts.
You can prepare yourself and your property for heavy precipitation by clearing drainages, ditches and gutters of debris and snow over the next few days.
In anticipation for the possible flooding, the city of Reno is reopening a number of sandbag locations.
Sandbags can be picked up at the following locations: City of Reno Corporate Yard, Mira Loma Park, Moya and Red Baron boulevard, Reno fire station #5 off Mayberry, Horseman's Park, Idlewild Park.
