Reno police investigate elderly woman's death

The Reno Police Department is investigating a homicide after an elderly woman was found deceased on Tuesday, October 29.

Officers responded to a call on the 7000 block of Mustengo Drive for a medical emergency involving an elderly female. Medical personnel arrived on the scene and determined the woman had passed away.

An autopsy conducted by the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office revealed the death to be a homicide. Reno Police Robbery Homicide Detectives took over the investigation.

On Thursday, October 31st, Detectives arrested William Griggs on a charge of open murder.

The identity of the deceased woman is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office.
