For the second time in two weeks, Washoe County School District (WCSD) Police Officers have arrested a juvenile for posting threats of violence on social media.

On September 16, WCSD PD arrested a 13-year-old student and charged them with one felony count of Making Threats or Conveying False Information Concerning Acts of Terrorism.

Last week, WCSD PD began an investigation into an image and threat posted on the social media platforms Instagram and Snapchat that included an image of weapons, tagged multiple WCSD schools, and threatened to carry out school shootings or other violence.

The original social media post was shared repeatedly, which impacted public safety agencies throughout the region and created fear within the community.

WCSD PD takes any threats to students, staff, and schools seriously, and will enforce the law to the fullest extent possible.

There are no ongoing threats to the schools listed in this social media post or on the future dates that were listed.
