Washoe County election officials are working diligently to process approximately 45,000 ballots that remain uncounted following Election Day.

As of Tuesday, 1,100 ballots were received by mail, contributing to a 62% voter turnout across the county. Of this turnout, 24% voted by mail, 11% in person on Election Day, and 27% participated in early voting.

On Election Day, about 8,700 mail ballots were dropped off at vote centers, and an additional 1,200 mail ballots were collected on Wednesday. The county expects to process around 15,000 ballots Wednesday, with results to be released by 5 p.m. daily until all ballots are counted.

Deputy registrar of voters Andrew McDonald said that 1,458 ballots require curing, with 671 already cured. However, the deputy registrar speculated that many voters might not cure their ballots since several races and candidates have already been decided.

Officials expressed satisfaction with the election process, noting no significant issues at any vote centers in Washoe County. Ballot counting will continue through the weekend, but no results will be official until the vote certification on November 15.
