Washoe County IDs 80-year-old woman found dead in Reno home, death ruled homicide

RENO, Nev. (News 4 & Fox 11) — The Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the woman who died in her residence on Mustengo Drive in Reno on Oct. 29. Margarita Griggs, 80 was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers responded to a call on the 7000 block of Mustengo Drive for a medical emergency involving an elderly woman. Medical personnel arrived on the scene and determined the woman had died.

Detectives arrested William Griggs on a charge of open murder on Oct. 31.

Authorities say the manner of death was homicide and the cause of death is pending further investigation.

The Reno Police Department is handling the law enforcement investigation for this case.
